What You Didn’t Know About Vinyl Fences

What You Didn’t Know About Vinyl Fences

Are you interested in getting a vinyl fence?

Are you interested in getting a vinyl fence? If you are, then there are probably some things you didn’t know about them. Here are some of the reasons to give vinyl fences a second look the next time you find yourself in need of a brand new fence.

Much Stronger Than Wood

Vinyl fences are surprisingly stronger than their wooden counterparts. This means that they won’t break as easily, and they can withstand how unpredictable the weather can be. In terms of tensile strength, which measures resistance to breaking, you will find that vinyl outdoes wood. Vinyl is about five times stronger, so if you’re on the fence about which material to choose, then vinyl could be the solution that you’ve been looking for all of these years.

You Can Recycle It

Wood will eventually break down and return to nature. After all, it is a natural material. You wouldn’t expect vinyl to be recyclable, but it actually is. Once the vinyl fence has outlived its usefulness, it can be broken down into smaller pieces. Then it is melted. The melting process allows it to be reused for something else also made of vinyl. This is done through mechanical recycling at specialized plants. Alternatively, it can be turned back into chlorine and carbon and then used for a different purpose entirely.

Non-Toxic

Because of the presence of chlorine and carbon, you might think that vinyl is toxic. The fact is that this situation is not the case. Although wooden and metal fences need a variety of treatments to maintain the beauty of their appearance, the vinyl doesn’t require the same amount of beauty treatments to keep up their aesthetic appeal. Vinyl doesn’t give off volatile organic compounds, also known as VOCs.

Highly Versatile

No matter what you want to use a vinyl fence for, you can make your dreams come true. At least, when it comes to putting a fence around your yard. They don’t only have to be picket fences; you can use them as privacy fences, taller fences, garden fences, pool fences, lattice fences, and have a variety of different colors meant to suit the rest of your home’s exterior.
